GREATER CHICAGOLAND AREA
At the moment, we are not able to share details surrounding this project. We are very excited about the opportunity this property provides for both golf and the greater community
GLEN FLORA CC
Designed by Willie Marshall and Austie Claeyssens, this club dates back to 1900 and at its current location since 1922. Sam is leading the club through a long term historical renovation. Each season, Shaper and Golf Course Superintendent Ross Page chooses certain parts of the course to renovate. The original architects were clearly influenced by template hole concepts, as hints of a Reverse Redan, Biarritz, and a Road Hole exist on the property.
JEFFERSON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Sam redeveloped the south range tee box into a short game practice area and teaching academy. The south tee was expanded and moved further away from the north tee to improve safety. A practice bunker, pitching green, uneven lie section, and dedicated teaching space were all incorporated into the new design.
Sam is also helping the club make minor improvements and adjustments to the golf course.
NorthSTAR GOLF CLUB
A co-design between PGA Star John Cook and David Savic, Sam was a critical member of the Old Course Design team. While the routing was mostly dictated by the surrounding development and sensitive environmental concerns, the course was designed with multiple tees and the ability to stretch to 7,500 yards.
PORT HURON GOLF CLUB
PORT HURON, MI
As Old Course Design David and Sam performed a historical renovation to this C.H. Alison original. A main feature of the property is the sand dune that runs across it. Much of the dune had been covered through years of tree planting and ignored maintenance. The par 3 8th features the now exposed dune along the left side.
Another project from Old Course Design, this new 18 Hole Championship layout was unique in the way a portion of the course was part of the planned housing development and the rest was weaved through wetland areas. Routing was a creative challenge as we stretched the project to the property boundaries.
CLOVERNOOK COUNTRY CLUB
The steamshovel architects Landford & Moreau originally created this urban course during the Golden Age of Architecture. Old Course Design was brought in to restore the course to much of its original design. Deep, grass faced bunkers sit 10-20 feet below green elevation, protecting these large undulating surfaces.
Brookside Golf & Country Club
As with many clubs of the timeframe, Brookside Golf & Country Club is short on space for a driving range. Old Course Design therefore focused on maximizing the teeing ground and creating targets to shape shots in both directions.
