SAMUeL BECKMAN
"MuEL"

chief strategy officer
Owner
Sam received the nickname “MUEL” during his teenage years, and it stuck. Mules are incredibly intelligent problem solvers and hard workers, which describes Sam's wide range of skillsets well. Sam received his Landscape Architecture Degree from The Ohio State University, his MBA from Capital University, and twice traveled with Michigan State University to study Golf Course Design in Ireland and Scotland.
His career started in 1999 with the firm Old Course Design. He was instrumental in the historical restorations of existing courses, such as Langford & Moreau's Clovernook and C.H. Alison's Port Huron Golf Club. Sam also was fortunate to be the Design Associate on the design and construction of new builds, Northstar Golf Club and College Fields Club.
After leaving Old Course Design, Sam designed, sold, and construction managed projects for Brickman (now Brightview); the leaders in the landscape service industry. Sam's natural business orientational and success advanced him into a management position. This experience provided Sam a very strong understanding of the green industry.
Always interested in improvement, Sam earned his MBA. Once completed, he quickly developed into leadership roles for Nationwide Insurance, a Fortune 100 Company. This experience enabled him to improve his competencies in traditional business fields. His corporate career included finance, marketing, and operations. Sam also focused on operational efficiency in each field he worked.
In 2015, an opportunity presented itself to move to Sunningdale, outside of London. For almost three years. Sam studied the works of architects such as: Willie Park, Jr., H.S. Colt, & Herbert Fowler, who's designs dominate the area. During this time, Sam also took multiple trips to Scotland to play on the world's best links courses.
It was upon his return to the US, that he started Emergency 9 Golf. It is Sam's diverse career path which makes him uniquely qualified to provide a level of service other firms cannot match.

David Savic
"THE BLACK BEAR"
Designer
chief FIELD CONSULTANT
David “Black Bear” Savic comes from a golf legacy. A graduate of Upper Arlington High School (Ohio) and The Ohio State University, David has been working in the field of golf course design and construction for 40 years. Black bears are intelligent, creative, and resourceful in their patrol of very large territories. Similarly, David’s creativity is seen across golf’s greatest landscapes. The last 18 years of David’s career has been as a Design Associate for Nicklaus Companies. David’s work at Nicklaus’ Moonlight Basin was on full 4K display in the homes of 1.25 million golfers watching “The Match”. In 2014, as Rory McIlroy defeated the tours’ best in darkness at Vahalla, David’s renovation work for Nicklaus brightly set the scene for the fantastic finish to the PGA Championship.
David first started his career working for Pete Dye during the construction of Long Cove Golf Club. David and an all-star cast of current architects began their careers working in the field together. Shortly after, he went to work for Golden Bear International as a Design Draftsman under Bob Cupp. David continued to work both in the field as Construction Supervisor and in the office on projects such as Loxahatchee, Grand Cypress, Augusta National (No.13), and West Palm Beach Polo Club.
In the early 90's, David became the Director of Field Operations for the Medallion Group. His responsibilities included Master plan development, golf course routing, environmental study, and all aspects of golf course construction, design and budgeting work for the 27-Hole Jack Nicklaus II course: The Medallion Club.
From 1994-2004, David created and operated the firm Old Course Design, where he and Sam would eventually first pair up. A full list of projects can be found in our Portfolio section.
